Felt is an inexpensive craft supply that you can use on scrapbooking projects.
They are lightweight.
They can be cut by hand or using a die cutting machine.
They come in a variety of colors.

A stitched felt embellishment is a great way to add texture, color and layers to your project.

Tip 1:
I use embroidery floss to stitch on the felt.

Tip 2:
I use glue dots to adhere the felt embellishment to the project.

Tip 3:
Layer the felt and include other types of embellishments (plastic, fabric, etc)

This layout is one main reason that I don’t scrapbook all of my photos that I print.
On this layout I used two photos.
The one on the top left is my daughter (9 years old) playing softball in 2011.
The photo on the bottom right is my daughter (18 months old) trying to swing a bat in 2002.
The photos were taken 9 years apart.

I love creating layouts where I use photos taken at different times.
There are different ways to accomplish this.

The More Organized Way

The more organized way would be to tag digital photo files with keywords.
So, for example, if I wanted to create a softball layout I could search for those keywords and bring up all the photos that qualify.

The problem with this method is that some photos, such as the one I used from 2002, are taken with film. So I would have to scan the photo to be able to include it in my digital library.

The other problem with this method is that it requires organization!
That is something that I am working on but I’m not this well organized – yet!

My Not-So-Organized Way

The way I do this is by keeping a photo album with printed-but-not-scrapped photos.
As I look through these albums I construct lists of scrapbook ideas.
Then when I’m ready to I can go back and scrap from my idea list.
This hitting layout is one idea that I’ve had.
Then as I was looking through my photos I decided to create the layout.

My favorite part of this layout is how the toddler photo is looking up at the more recent photo – it’s almost like she’s looking at her future self and smiling.

Tip #1 – Scrapbook Something Easy

This layout took less than 10 minutes to create.

Here is how to go about creating:

Step 1:
Cut cardstock to the appropriate size.
(This is 9×9)

Step 2:
Grab photo, chipboard frame ric rac and ribbon bits.
Tape the ribbon to the frame.
Add a chipboard letter, rub on letters and the flower embellisments.

Step 3:
Layer the photo and embellished frame to the cardstock.

Step 4:
Hand doodle a frame on 3 sides of the photo frame.

Step 5:
Add various word stickers to the side of the frame.

Step 6:
Using glue dots, stick 3 random stitched buttons above the frame.

Step 7:
Add a little hand journaling.

This is it.
Fast.
Easy.
